Will an elliptical trainer help to lose fat all over my body? Including the abdominal region?

Shika asked:

Will a workout on the elliptical get me sweating and tired like a good workout should? Where will it reduce fat? Does it help to eliminate the fat on my abdominal region? I’m deciding whether I should buy one and I’m very nervous that being an athlete, it won’t give a good intense workout to help eliminate the fat that I need to lose in order to perform at the height of my potential. Any good information about elliptical machines will be greatly appreciated.

It would depend on which you buy and which areas of your body you focus on

All cardio exercise will help you lose unwanted fat as long as you stick by it and keep up with the proper diet.

Yes it will. Before I had my child I lost a lot a weight and drop sizes on the elliptical machine. It does work if you are commited to it. It bought mine at you can make payments to it.

Well, I go on the Elliptical machine for about 20 minutes everytime I go to the gym. It really gets me sweaty and I think it’s a great work-out. Thee are little lights on the machine which show which muscles you’re working, and they are all leg muslces. But this isn’t to say that your abdominal area won’t be trimmed down also. You’re still moving around and doing cardio, so it will affect your abs also. If I were you, I would ask the salesperson about the details of the machine and what you want out of it, before you buy one. Hopefully, he can help you out! Good luck! :o )

An eliptical walker will help you to lose weight, but there is nothing in the world you can do to direct where on your body the fat is reduced from.

Don’t let anyone ever tell you otherwise, it is simply not true.

If you are trying to lose weight, just understand that the weight will come off the same way it went on. For instance, doing situps and crunches will not cause you to lose fat in your abdominal area.

But exercise can help you to build muscle in specific areas.

To get a good machine will cost you a pretty penny, I mean over $1,000.00. If the one you are looking at isn’t that expenisve it probably means it isn’t the same quality that you would see in a gym.

Rather than spend all that money, you should just join a local gym and sample all kinds of workout machinery.

I belong to a Gold’s gym and routinely use three or four different kinds of machinery in my cardio workouts – all for about $40.00 a month.

    Hope this helps…

Elliptical machines, like any other training device, has it’s pros and cons. For a highly fit athlete, they may be lacking, OK for short term substitute work or indoor work if you can’t do anything else. For the average out of shape public, they’re fine and do a good job. Any exercise is better than no exercise. Yes, elliptical trainers, as any other device or exercise, burns fat all over the body. There is no such thing as spot loss of fat except surgery.

i think it might help keep you in shape but not for serious training.it’ll help your lower body… that’s it. if you want to keep your abs in shape. do pilates. i used an eliptical to lose weight. it helped my abs…. but pilates made the, rock hard. get a pilates disk… and just hire a trainer for your training.
