Why is using an Elliptical trainer easier than running?

yeahyeahyeah asked:

today at the gym I ran a mile on a treadmill and err.. ‘moved’ a mile on an elliptical trainer. It was wayy easier to use the elliptical than to actually run. How come?

It’s non impact and in running, you are using all your body weight while the elliptical displaces your weight.

its less harmful on your knees. so it more like gliding and thats easier then pounding your knees up and down…you know?

There is alot less pressure on your joints.

Woah, I’d like to know which one you’re running on. The one at the gym I go to takes forever to get to a mile, its sooo messed up. I normally have a 7min mile and on that one, I’m lucky if I get a 9min one!!! I had to stop running on it because it would always make my old foot injury flair up and make me dizzy after getting off.

because its non-impat therefore non-weight baring

it takes less “toll” on your body than running on a treadmill or running outside on the road or sidewalk.
