Intersection issue
I didn't see this mentioned anywhere else, and perhaps it's just a pet peav of mine, but, unlike the Garmin I have experience with, this unit would only find an intersection to navigate to if a town was identified first. Instead of just using two roads, it asks for a road, then a town, before asking for the second road. This does me no good if I don't happen to know what town the intersection lives in. Great with firmware 3.02
I am not sure how well or not well the previous versions ran but for the 199.00 I paid for the unit I think it is a bargain.

Great GPS
My wife received this GPS as a gift a few months ago and I must say I am VERY impressed. We upgraded to the newest firmware right away so I cannot speak on old firmwares but route finding is quick, the screen is very readable in all lighting conditions and the dual view (closeup and zoomed out) is excellent. I can't wait to take it on a road trip. If indeed it was poor in prior firmwares this shows that sony is commited to the product rather than just making a new model for each change. .... Read more

Shame on Sony
Pros-
Split screen/lane change feature,clear screen even in sunlight.
Cons-
Slow route calculations,low battery life,poor mapping.

Shame on Sony
I bought the Sony NVU83T GPS because of the larger 4.8" display and as a loyal Sony customer, because of my past experiences and love of other Sony products, but this GPS does not live up to the Sony name.
This the worst GPS I tried so far.

After months of testing other GPS units, I am happy to report that this product is very worthy of purchasing for your navigational needs. After getting used to it's functions, it really works quite nicely. I like all of the information it gives you on the 4.8 inch screen. Once you have input a destination point there is nothing more for you to worry about. Just follow it and it will get you there.
