Are there any GPS systems that don’t require the cigar outlet in your car?

jana07 asked:

my car has the cigar outlet, but does not work and unfortunately can’t be replaced. So i was wondering if there were any GPS systems that don’t require the outlet in order to work. ONLY SERIOUS ANSWERS PLEASE.

I don’t know if there are automotive GPS systems that operate on AA or AAA batteries. They typically use a rechargeable lithium ion battery, but you can use either the 12V cigarette lighter in the car or AC charger at home. The advertised battery life is usually 5-8 hours depending on the model, so if your trips are shorter than that, you can pre-charge at home and not need a cigarette lighter outlet.

For example you can check on this Garmin product page: . Choose the model and click on the “Specs” tab. It will show you the battery type and life expected.
